1992 Ford Explorer 4x4

I am having trouble starting my Explorer. It either starts really hard or will not turn over at all. I have replaced the battery terminals and the starter with no improvements. I have researched the internet and this seems to be a common problem. Has anyone out there found a solution? Any advice is appreciated.
