My Cutlass has the same engine. The one thing I hate about front-wheel drive (my last car was a Chevy Caprice), is the extreme difficulty of working on things on the far side of the engine (against the firewall). Your front ones should be very easy to get to. There are 3 rubber plugs in between the header pipes with wires leading up and over to your "distributor" on the far side of the engine. Just pull off the rubber plugs and there's your spark plugs! Use a spark plug socket to remove them. The other side is going to be a little more difficult. It is almost impossible to reach them from standing in front, or anywhere, for that matter. You can get to them by using one of two methods that I know of:
Disconnect the front engine mounts. They look like dog bones on the front/top of the engine. Using a long crowbar, find a sturdy place on the back side of the engine and turn the entire engine forward. You may need two people for this method.
The other is the easiest, especially if you have access to a vehicle lift. You may be able to get to them from underneath the car.
Then there's the option of calling up you local GM dealer for a little free information
