Okay, as you may know they are cancelling Peavey 5150s and im fixing to buy one....before they all run out. I was wondering though...what is the best cab to run it through? Im looking for a veryvery tight sound. Think of old Metallica(MasterofPuppets) really tight bottom end. Thats all im lookin for. If i can figure it out, ill order it all at once...and i need to do that quick.

I love it how as soon as all these new forums pop up, so do a bunch of threads that never have before, but would be great in those forums.
Just an observation.
Oh,and moved :)

woa, holy shit...we have a music forum now. Its been months since ive been on the CB forum. I stopped because of the mods....but wow...we have something useful! i love it. Anyways yeah, i was thinkin Marshall. But i dont wanna fork the cash right now. Ill have to i suppose. I think thatll be pimp though...5150II head+Marshall cab=bone crushing.
Any suggestions on which model marshall cab to get? Like speaker-wise? Not greenbacks, i would suppose that they are way too "classic" for the sound im lookin for.

any cab by marshall is gonna be good, just make sure the wattage from the head is fitting to the cab so you dont blow a speaker

These amps are cool. I haven't heard these things called "5150" in a long time. It's usually "Eddie Van Halen" amps. "I want one of those EVH amps!!!"
Just because EVH uses a 5150 doesn't mean you should use one, though. They are very good but I'd rather a triple X.

underoath, you also mite want to look at some new pedals like some boss pedals and dunlop or morley wah pedals. boss makes the best distortion and effects, itll make that amp sound alot meaner for alot cheaper than dishin out like at least a grand. whatever you do just dont get a processor if you go down the pedal road

Not so long ago, ( give or take 10 years) in a galaxy we would rather not discuss. I spent a bunch of time looking for that heavy handed guitar sound. Lets call that sound "Rock n Roll"
I tried a number of different amp/guitar/effect combinations, and could not for the life of me, find what I was after. Then, lo and behold, along came this German guitar player buddy, and says, "what are you doing?"
I explained the predicament, and he told me of a simple solution. He pulled an SG out of its case, plugged it directly in to a marshall JCM800 head, with a 4x12 cab, cranked the overdrive to the max, and started wailing. He played for about 5 minutes, then handed me the guitar and said, " there you have it... Rock n Roll"
And that was it, SG/Marshall/overdrive = that good old-fashioned heavy rock guitar sound. Without a whole lot of coin.
Good Luck

I love Marshalls, but cant fork the mulah for one. My friends dad has a JCM800...but he wont get rid of it. And i have an AVT Marshall. I want tubes, and i like SGs, but they are wirey and bright sounding compared to a Paul. So thin sounding in my opinion. But im not playing just Rock&Roll...there is a big diff between "rockandroll" overdrive and the hi-gain metal distortion stuff im lookin' for. And i play no-pedals...except the occasional Phase90.
By the way, whats a good Kettner tube amp? Im gonna go look at 'em right now. Or maybe a JCM900, they are much cheaper than the 800s.
50 watts is okay with me! MARSHALL!!!!
Got balls? Jim will sell some to you!

Okay screw hughes and kettner...too much money for tubes and their solidstates dont look all that great. Anyone have any opinions on Randall RH200G2s? Theyre on MusiciansFriend for like 700 bucks, head and cab.
Edit:Actually i want to buy the RH200G2 head and match it with a Randall R412CXM 412 cab.

hughes and kettner make the best amps out there aside from mesa boogie they even make amps especially for the metal player

Aside from Mesa? What about Marshall? Hmm? And if you want real tone....like bluesey....i love vintage fender bassmans. But id still take marshall over mesa prob.they are a little more versatile. Still lookin at the Randall though...just the head though.
