Finally!!! `37 Ford Boyd Coupster

Well, after almost a year, I finally finished something!! I really missed being involved here, so it is nice to be back.
First I should apologize for the quality of the pics. I just moved in here, and I have to figure out the best place to take pictures. I may post more later on. I tried to adjust the color in Paint Shop Pro (I think I did more harm than good), but it just doesn`t catch the violet color right. Imagine just a shade more purple in the top half of the car.
Anyway, this is Testors Boyd "Coupster" kit. Believe it or not, it was painted with TESTORS sprays!! :uhoh: :eek7:   I must say, the Ultraviolet spray is absolutely beautiful, and these pictures don`t do it justice. I highly recommend it. Wimbledon White was used for the bottom half. These colors were part of the new line of Testors spray laquers, and IMO are right on par with Tamiya, maybe even better! I was very impressed, especially for Testors!
Let me know what you think!

Wow. Thanks guys. The kit is a Testors kit and is number 5313. It is a pretty decent kit and even includes valvetrain detail under the valve covers!!!! However, the plastic seems cheap and started to "melt" under automotive primer.
I`ll try to get more pics, including the engine. The wheels are Pegasus "Diablos" and are excellent quality. Pretty much the entire front suspension was scratch built to accept the much bigger tire and wheels and to get it to "sit" jsut right.Other than that, it is pretty much box stock.

That's some impressive paint! Nice build, colors suit the model well. :sunglasse
I had okay results w/Wimbledon White and Italian Red, disastrous results w/Big Bad Blue...the can/nozzle were garbage...but it does airbrush nicely when transfered to a cup and mixed w/some Gunze Mr. Color Thinner.
I was hoping it would be as good as Tamiya, but in my experience it's nowhere near as good, because of the crappy nozzles. It's still hit or miss w/Testors...Tamiya is good all the time.

Thanks for all the complements guys!
You guys probably wont believe this, but I actually saw a real boyd coupster tonight! It was orange, and a convertible top. Believe it or not, the kit`s fenders seem a little narrow compared to the real life car.

nice car man, please post more pics!!!!!!!!
Assuming the weather cooperates, I am going to try to get better pics this weekend. For some reason, my camera is washing out the pics and changing purple to blue. :( Maybe I have to start considering a new camera. I really wish I could show you guys this purple color.

Now that`s a bit much! :D
Thanks again everyone. It looks like the weather isn`t going to cooperate for me this weekend, unless you consider a hurricane cooperating. :D So here are two more pictures in the meantime, though they are even worse than the first ones.

Actually, that top pic was taken indoors. I`m really having a hard time getting good pictures with this one and I`m not sure why. That purple color just wont record properly. :(

Thanks! I may yet get some pictures up this weekend! They are now calling for sunny skies!! :)
Anyway, I forgot to take pictures of the engine, but there isn`t much to show there. I did wire it, but there wasn`t much to detail. The kit gives you two engine options, fuel injected and blown. I chose the fuel injection, which pretty much just looks like an LT-1 with a modified intake box.

Incredible job with the paint and a better spokesmodel for it, Testor's could not find! They should put it on the kit's boxtop.
But...are the front wheels one backwards?..or the rear? or did you want them to be asymetrical? (i.e. the front wheel's "spokes" scoop the air into the brake assembly, while the rears seem to vent it out of the brake assembly).
Either way, a beautiful build and a show winning paintjob!

Very nice car!!! I think the rears are on backwards. Most will say they are supposed to spin, in direction, like a vortex. I think since it will be sitting still most the time  they look more aggressive digging in, like the front.
In either case, that paint job is second to none. :bigthumb:
