Antenna motor

The antenna motor on my 92 Jeep Cherokee continues to run with the antenna not moving. The gears must be shot in the motor, how can I remove the antenna and motor? Is access only through the dash as I cannot see any external access.

You access the antenna by removing the inner fender.

There are a couple of bolts under there and you have to remove the mast and a nut on top of the fender.

for the power antenna, disconnect the negative cable from the battery for a precaution and then take out the kick panel on the passenger side.

There is a relay and other wiring that you disconnect in there.

Thanks JD. Bit of a novice mechanic here. How do I access the inner fender is that through the engine compartment under the hood?

It is inside the wheel well
