So, since my carbs are acting up, I was riding my dad's 2k2 VFR800 Interceptor the other day. I noticed that his V4, liquid cooled was MUCH, MUCH warmer in stand-still traffic than my I4, air cooled Seca II. Now, my Seca is also carburated, and the "Viffer" is FI. Does any of this play into why his bike lets of soooo much more heat than mine?

i too have noticed that the newer bikes are nut roasters. mine runs around 105 degrees C. whereas my old gixer was around 85-90. maybe due to the thermo fan now?

V4s are naturally hotter, the position of the rear cylinder prevents just about any air ever reaching it to aid in the cooling. And since they dont want to weigh the bike down with a bigger waterpump and steal more power from the engine, they just typically try to put a stronger fan behind the radiator. But that really makes it more apparent how hot the engine is, because after the fan sucks the air through the radiator it hits the front cylinder block, and then hits your legs next.
