Have a 1990 1500 350 auto with shorty headers and 3 inch exhaust. I want to put in a cam and dont know if I have to stay with a comp cam or can I use something else. I seen some of the ones listed for Towing close in lift and duration as the comp cams. Any help would be app.

I've used as big as a summit K1103 Cam without changing the Prom or Injectors. It is a good cam to work with stock valve train etc. That's probably as big as you want to go with stock components. Even the k1102 is a good choice, both are mild but without modifying other components in the engine you'll just be throwing away fuel $$. By the way I've used many different cam manufacturers. EX. The summit cams VS Edelbrock cams. I degree in every cam. Every Summit cam has been dead on or within a fraction of a degree between lobes. The last Edelbrock cam I installed was 8°s rearded. I used an Edelbrock timing set too. I had to turn the crank gear and when rechecked it was still 2°s retarded. My point: Don't spend more for the name because sometimes the name isn't all it's cracked up to be. Good luck with your cam swap.
