hey i am about to do a mpfi swap on my 89 lx 4-door. i have tried to do a mpfi swap before, but it didnt work for some reason (i think it was the wiring). on the cylinder position sensor, youre supposed to use shielded wire. i did this on my last swap but i used 22 gauge wire with, like, four different strands of wire inside. this time i am thinking of pulling some wire out of a junked car with the pins still intact. my question is, if you have done a mpfi swap on your car, did u use shielded wiring for the cps? if so, what kind? another question: for pulling pins on the ecu plugs, what would work good without having to order a honda pin pulling tool?

i used a really small allen wrench to remove pins, always worked well for me. i used a piece of shielded wire from a junk harness i had lying around.

i didnt use shielded wire when i did my mpfi, the motor started fine, never got to drive it on the street so yeah.

i used a small glasses screwdriver to depin my ecu pins

I bought a set of jewelers screwdrivers at the grocery store, which had a tiny screwdriver perfect for ecu pins. also, I have done two mpfi swaps without ever using shielded wire and never had the first problem due to it. I've never gotten codes or anything.
