hey bro:

is that with the Type-R intake system? and what's with that drop at 4400?

nope....the intake is actually the stock black rubber upper pipe with a filter duck taped to it:D

this was just a baseline run before I tare everything appart...

the drop @ 4400rpm is when vtec kicks in....if I could raise vtec engagement a tad...perhaps to 5000-5200rpm then it would fix that:)

why is there a drop in hp when vtec kicks in?
shouldn't it have the opposite effect? (I know vtec doesn't give you extra hp, but shouldn't that be the area where your peak hp is?)

i was thinking the same thing  i'm surprised that hp and torque dropped. is that common in the B18C1? anybody?

that drop in hp/torque is because it has switched to the bigger cam too early...the smaller cam had not even finished pulling yet.

this is common on all B18C1s...it is less noticible when the engine is stock...besides 4400rpm is way too early for vtec engagement and that is what it's set to with stock ecu...

this is not a serious problem...a vtec controller will fix that with the simple push of a few buttons....if you notice however that about 500rpm after the drop, the power curve rises dramaticly...actually by about 35hp in just 2K rpm....and when you red line 1st gear your rpms drop to about 6K...so you avoid that drop and land right on the sweet spot;)
