Hi there,
I have a 2000 hyundai elantra. I live in texas. Recently i wrecked my car. I need to change the hood , front bumper and the front signal assembly (passenger side). My mechanic quotes around $1500 .. frankly the damage aint so bad. PLease can anyone help me, if they know of anyone who can supply these parts at a cheap rate. i dont want a brand new one.. just a normal one.. even salvage is acceptable i dont mind if there is few scratches to it.. etc.. I would also like to know if i can use a 1999 hyundai elantra parts fo rmy car. Please reply ASAP..
thanks.

Jeanie, Did you turn a claim into your insurance Co? Are you going to? Did you get 3 or more estimates? Do not accept the first estimate....one thing is for sure, proposals vary from shop to shop (Not in terms of small change either.) I will say that $1500 is really not that much money for collision damage. Somebody backed into a Buick I used to have and the damage cost me 650. This was a very small area, body repair, prep, and paint are not cheap...especially the labor which is probably 80% or more of that quote you got. Yes you can find a junk yard and get a bumper cover and head lamp bucket....but what's the chances that you'll be driving around a multicolor car when your done? Paint matching is almost an art form...A good shop will blend and match your existing paint working within the constraints of your factory finish being able to replicate fade and orange peel.
Is this car still financed and or leased? If you paid it off and you owe nothing then you can do what ever you want. But some finance companies will receive the accident report and not only insist you bring the vehicle to original condition and some will even insist on you using genuine OEM replacement parts.
Hope this helps,
Jason
