When my civic wouldn't start i came here to find out what was wrong with it or what could be wrong with it. It took me an hour of searching through posts to find an answer. I want to make it easier to find this notorious civic problem's solution. These posts are not necessarily goin to fix your car cuz a lot could be wrong with it, but they could help so please post common problems and what usually goes bad with our 4th gens.

Q. My car would start and run fine but when I'd turn it off for a few minutes then try again and it would start then die after a couple seconds. I'd wait about 10-15 minutes and it would fire right up.

A. I pulled a few main relays out from civics in the junkyard, plugged one in and, BAM! car fired right up and never died again. If you don't have access to a junkyard you can go to a Honda dealership to get the Main Relay. The main relay is located behind the coin tray on the driver's side.

Last time my car had a starting issue, it just wouldnt crank over or do anything at all. Dash lights all came on and everything, but no cranking whatsoever. Turned out that even though the starter is bolted right to the block, it wasnt grounding out. Ran a cable from a bolt holding the starter on to a bolt on top of the shock tower and it started right up.

I wouldnt trust a junk yard relay much, its probably in the same condition as your stock one, I would recomend allways getting a new one unless your desperate and dont have the cash (80 USD at the dealership)
