how come they don't make anything for my car?! i just searched their site and there's NOTHING for the 93-97 Corollas. i realize that a rolla isn't your typical car to mod, but i would think they should at lest make something.

Isn't a Corolla supposed to be a boring super-reliable econobox that handles like a Lesney Matchbox car and is used by people who are well outside TRD's normal clientel age?

yea but so is a civic and look what people do to those things
and surprising as it may seem, TRD does make stuff for the newer Corollas (mostly the ones with vvt-i)

nothing personal, but TRD wouldn't waste it's time. you could load your car with TRD Aftermarket parts and it'd still be hittin 16's or worse. honda's are a different breed. a car that only weighs 2000 lbs can move well with 160-180hp.

actually...92-95 Civics only weigh 102 lbs less (2315 vs. 2213)than the 93-97 Corollas (Explorer shut down before i could copy the site...if you don't believe me i'll dig it up again).
now, assuming you squeezed 160 HP out of both cars, you get .06 hp/lb in the rolla and .07 hp/lb in the civic.
i'm not comparing a 93 Corolla to a 2004 Si. as much as i don't like the Si's they have the 11 year technology advantage. what i'm really complaining about is the fact that a car that is very similar to mine gets butt loads of aftermarket support from respectable companies while i get nothing

Just buy a turbo, have a fabricator match it up, and slap the sucker on. You ought to be okay running 5psi or so. That'll be a good start, hehe!

landyacht...was looking at turbo-related stuff, but the whole college thing kinda takes up a little too much money so that probably isn't gonna happen any time soon. but when i get a job, i may just buy another 93 with lower miles and boost it just to piss of the people that say it can't be done.

Nice! Yeah, i'm in college too, i know all about it. Look at my car, hehe! As far as inexpensive mods to get a little more out of the car here's a couple suggestions.
Intake and Exhaust
A quick way to get a 12% boost in horsepower and a 33% boost in torque. Your car may not get that exactly, but that's a good average i've found. Plus, it shouldn't cost more than 1500 bucks for everything.
Octane Boost
You can buy a little bottle of octane boost for 2 bucks from places like Canadian Tire or the Home Depot Auto Centre. You add one to a full tank of gas and it gives you a good increase in power by increasing the how volatile the fuel is...kinda like the difference between regular and premium, a better quality fuel, but it adds performance to the car.
Perhaps someone knows better what i'm talking about and can explain it? I've never used it myself, just know about it.

landyacht...already did the intake and exhaust thing...got that done this summer before i left. gives it a little more kick than you'd expect from a Rolla
Amish kid...wish i could do that, but that's the same problem as forced induction...it's gonna cost more money than i'm ever gonna see in the next 4 years. after college, who knows...

reason why civics have so much more aftermarket support is b/c of F&F, but i guess before it did have a good deal of parts. Dunno why they don't offer em on corollas, maybe b/c civics look better? it's a lil more sportier lookin than a corolla

Their handling is a league above that of the Corolla as well.

no that's not true. i have friends who've had modded, engine swapped civics long before F&F, that's a played out reference that has no real merit, i wish people would stop saying that. there are a lot of cars that weren't in F&F that have large aftermarkets; Mr2's, celica's, 300z's, maxima's(which did make a brief appearance in F&F),sentra's, etc.
F&F was art imitating life.
you won't typically see a very fast civic that's not powered by a dohc vtec engine, usually making around 160-176 hp, and as much as 195-200hp in certain instances. so they're not starting with 115 hp like 93rolla is. then intake, exhaust, ecu, header etc you're gonna end up witha car with a very impressive power:weight ratio. i've never seen a 1.5L non-vtec honda civic dx that made me say "wow that's a quick little car". but my friends got a dx civic with a gsr engine, lightly modded, that puts down 14.5's and better. it's not a rocket, but that's impressive for a car that started it's life as an economy vehicle. i would recommend searching for a better engine to use.

I said it did have a good deal of parts before F&F, but F&F probably helped a good deal also.
