Hey guys, I have a 03 cav with a 2.2 ecotec engine, and I am looking to buy an intake. I'm pretty new at this, so I just was wondering what you guys think I should get. My main goal is to make the engine sound deeper, and any power isn't really needed, but i wouldn't mind any more. Also, is this a job I could do myself? and is it reversable? Any imput is welcome.. thanx guys!

Why don't you get an AEM Cold Air Intake. The filter sits by the drivers side fog light and sounds really deep. Go here for a pic, you need to scroll down. http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=2&i=258155&t=250270#258155

Is there any reason that you cannot build your own cold air intake if you can buy pipe and bend it however you need it. Or will doing this give you less of an intake benefit?

No reason not too.

Thats exhaust pipe off of a diesel pickup, a Duramax I think. Just use the stock tubing, and put a APC filter on the end or something.

Air filter- $20
Air Bypass Valve- $50
Piping- Free

as far as i know a short ram intake produces more sound but a cold air has more h.p. it should be revesable as long as you keep all the stock parts you remove as for brand i suggest aem.

Yes the CAI make more HP but you have to worry about Hydrolocking your engine. If you have a kit and the contour openings flow towards the intake and water gets sucked up inside...U know what happens then. Since it rains alot here, i have a WAI to just dick around with driving around, iF i start going to a track or w/e, I can buy the CAI extension and swap them on and off... or hopefully when i get a winter ratt next summer, i don't even take her out when it rains...
