I have a 92 Linc. Continental Executive Series that I'm having some problems with. Everything was going well with the tranny, it was running real strong when all of a suden it stopped working completely. I can move the shift lever and everything but it doesn't go into any gears. I know that the tranny didn't just stop working, but i've heard that lincolns have a tranny lockout hooked up to the ignition or something of that sort and it may have been set off. If anybody can help me in any way that would be great. THx

I have a problem similar to the. I got home from college friday and pakred the car... everything seemed fine. when i started the car and went to leave i could not get it into gear. When i put it in reverse the car could act as if it was bogged down. And then i switched theriugh the gear and it would just jump in and out of the gear.. now i hear a grinding noise as if the internals are moving when its in park... I also have a 92 continental

i had trouble getting mine out of park , turned out to be brake switch near connected to the brake peddle, found it looking for problem with brake also not working by that point on answers.com if i remember right from search on google, one autozone had it for 12 but out of stock another a couple towns down had them in stock and only 7 dollars , kindof easy to fix after that

....I can move the shift lever and everything but it doesn't go into any gears....

Check the shifter cable, at the bottom of the steering column, and at the transmission.
