stalling

I just put a new timing belt and camshaft in my 90 es, every time i go to slow down from any rpm higher than 1500 it stalls,now it idles at around 650rpm, does n e one have and suggestions as to what could be wrong?

Well, my 90 Laser RS had a rather large hole in the intake tube after the Mass Air Flow Sensor that caused me all kinds of problems. Take a look in the valleys of the ribbed part of the tube and see what you find. Or it could be the sensor itself, but I can't recall how to test it. You could always just turn the idle adjustment screw in some and bring the idle up to the stock 800-900 rpm and see if that corrects the problem. Let us know what happens! GL!

my 96 nt does about the same thing after I did my timing belt. I read that the crankshaft or camshaft position sensor could be bad and the computer uses the last known good pulse sample so the engine doesn't crash. After a while, the assumed sample is out of sync with the actual engine timing at low rpms and the engine starts to stall. I tested this by timing how long it takes the engine to stall. At restart the engine runs fine but after a few minutes it starts to drift again and stall the same way. I'll be testing my sensors this weekend.

yeah and what is the ideal ideling RPMs for a GST? mine seems to idel high? sorry just curious

any one know?
