is it worth getting a 2.5 or 3 inch piping for a 240 stock with a ka24de??? will it get any power out of it???

Of course its always worth upgrading an engine aslong as you do it right and on the power it should add lil sommin sommin ;)

If you're staying N/A do not get 3" piping, you will lose more power than you gain.

2.5" is the largest diameter you should get, you will still lose a lot of torque from that though.

2.25" with a nice strait shot muffler is you best all around choise.

Seriously though your car will be slower with 3" piping.

Actually... the people who have actually dynoed 65mm vs/ 75mm say that the 75mm pulled harder on the top end with a minimal loss of the low end.

on a related note. some yahoo at my school was trying to convince me that you needed "backpressure" after the turbo or your valves would burn up. :gay

Of course they said that, they don't want to admit they bought the wrong thing. ^^

You don't gain very much power between 2.5 and 3.0 but you do lose a fair amount of torque.

The only real reason I can see to go with 3" is if you want a louder car at the expense of a little bit of power.

actually i have the apex gt which is like 95mm with 115mm tip on my NA KA and compared to stock i think it pulls a lot better overall, with seriously minimal if any loss right off the line. from the 40mph-90mph range it is a big difference. and yes, i bought the gt because of eventual turbo plans, not for NA power, but seriously its good. i have no dyno results, but it is definitely not slower than stock. maybe this is true for some engines but not in this case. so go big if you want... although if you are sticking NA i would go with the N1 dual.

Ken, didn't we have this exact conversation in another thread? I told you 3" is good on NA KA, on other engines I would say you're right, but on the KA, 3" is best, even in NA.

Yeah we did, and I strongly disagree. 3" if your planning a turbo is fine, but I'm certian if you take it to the track N/A it will barely out preform a stock set up, and lose to one with a smaller pipe. If 3" is too much for our 455, I really doubt it's best for our lovely 2.4 liter KA's =(

Plain and simple you gain almost no extra power moving up that last half inch.

95mm with a new open muffler certianly will pull harder than stock, but it won't pull harder than 75-85mm what is it? 2.6cm=1 inch or something. If you replaced that pipe with 65-75ish I bet you'd run a better quarter mile =p

i put apexi n1 duals which are 3" to 2 2.5" pipes and it was definitly faster than stock, only reason i got it is because the rb was going in, but i wanted to see what it would do with the ka so i put it on ... anyways, id say 2.25 - 2.5" is what you should get for na...
