Pin-On Hood Question

I wanna get a hood for my 2002 Camaro and was going to go with the 4in cowl induction, and there are some sites that offer a pin-on hood and a bolt-on hood. Which in your opinion would be better. I want to get hood pins for my car anyways, now is that what a pin-on hood is? Like without the pieces to bolt on, and does it just come with the two hood pins in the front of the hood or does it have several lining the entire hood? I havent seen a pic of one and the ones i have seen look identical to the bolt-on ones. Thanks for any info you can give me before i purchase this hood. And would the pin-on hood come with the hood pins? Or do i buy those seperate? Thanks again

Also, what do you think would be the best hood? I am looking for something rare and unique but the only one i've seen is the 4port heat extracting hood by Mecham. If you have any ideas i'd love to hear from them, i want something aggressive but there doesnt seem to be anything besides the Ultra Z, and the cowl, and turbo and ram-air ones. Thanks

what does the pin do insed a of a regular bolt on one?

i think the ones with the pins have 4 pins. one in each corner and you can take the hood totally off just by taking the pins out. at least thats what ive seen at the tracks

o those easy take off ones on the track and drag strip!? is it also alot lighter than bolt on ones or not really?

is that what the pins are on for example the zl1 (first one that came to mind)

the lift off has to be customized to ur car. they have it for ur model but u need to trim it,drill the holes and buy the hood pins and install them. if u were to go with the lift off which is cheaper in price. ud have to get 2 regular hood pins and 2 locking hood pins so that ur hood doesnt get stolen. i just installed a lift off on an s-10 and there was alot of customizing going on.

Thanks for the info, so would it be better to just get the bolt-on? Is it really lighter? And i would go through the trouble of the custom work, i just think the hood pins give it an aggresive look and stand out more. And do you have any good hood ideas? I wanted the Mecham Hood witht he 4 port heat extractors and single ram air but the hood is like $960 new. Do you know where i could get one cheaper, and/or a better hood that still looks aggressive?

its better to go with the bolt-on. from the research that i have done, the bolt-on is more rigid and has all the support ribs that are on the stock hood. the pin-up hood is mainly for racing applications and wont do squat for you in an accident. whereas the bolt-on hood would actually give you a little structure, but not much. with the bolt on you have to trim it in and drill mounting holes for all the hardware...

it would be better to go with the bolt on...its stronger and plus if u want that tough look of hood pins u can put them on the front still. most people do that. heres a couple sites i go to http://www.paddockparts.com

depends on who makes the hood. VFN pin ons almost bolt/pin right on. The VFN p[in on is only like 11 pounds, but their bolt on is only like 14! With a pin on hood everytime you want to open the hood, you have to take it completely off and have a place to put it (roof?)! It is great to have the whole hood off if you work on the car a lot and need the space, but if it is a street car you will be much more happy with a bolt on.
