don't do it! please don't butcher another z by dropping some v8 in it! if you really want a serious swap, think about going with an rb26dett, or maybe the vg30dett... those engines have plenty of power to play around with, and they're extremely easy to get more hp out of.... just don't bastardize another z!!

SBC in a Z? Yeah if you're a retarded redneck! Keep your damn Domestic trash in your Domestics!
As for the RB20DET... they came stock in 300Z's and I'm sure with some modifications you can make it fit in a 240Z... I know a MOD here that just recently installed an SR20DET in his 240Z and those engines do not differ too much from one-an-other

... Hmmm... I think an RB25DET would be pretty sweet.
Lots of work... So be ready for a lot of fab work and such.
As for the V8 idea... Sure, why not.

Retarded Redneck eh??... I was this > < close to going LT1 w/ 6 speed. I don't think of myself retarded.
I had to butcher my car to fit the SR20 into it, the stock crossmember was removed and the stock motor mounts were shaved off so the SR could fit.
And the SR20 and RB20 are two totally different beasts. RBs will mount in the factory location with slight modifications. The SR required a whole new cross member to be designed and built.
Definately not an easy swap to do. Plus we had to design our own wiring diagram for the car. Cause obviously a 240z never was designed to have anything remotely complicated as a SR20 in it. So S13 diagrams didn't help.

Hahahaha, God the Irony here is hilarious.
Anyways, RB powertrain would have to be mounted a bit further down and back I would imagine... Otherwise a custom hood would have to be fabbed up.
It deffinately wont be an easy yank out, swap in type deal... But will be worth it.
Ever considered a CA18DET?
