Or just pop the clutch in second while in midturn then try to regain control... fun stuff... you can heel/toe too but you should really practice first.

Have you ever tried it, Ace? It's kind of fun but kind of scary too. It may not be "true drifting" as you say whereby the rear wheels spin and you steer through a turn with the front, but in the twisties if you know what you're doing in a FWD you can drift through curves pretty quick.

Ace, I hardly ever use the e-brake when drifting but I do depending on how technical I'm getting with it. Let's just say I know the terrain I drive on. I like to cruise through a spot once or twice to check it out and then I'll hit it at good speed and waste it... successfully I might add. I wish I had some film coverage to show you. My latest was drifting a really sweet 80 degree dirt road intersection perfectly at about 40+mph. What can I say? I'd only been through there twice (from opposite direction) and I hadn't driven my car in awhile. And yeah it's fun and I don't do it all the time cuz I don't have to practice too much at it anymore and I kind of like my exedy clutch. I never do it when there are other cars around but if I was racing somebody like you in a place like that I'd definitely pass you through a turn in a drift coming inches from your fender and exiting in front of you... LMAO

that has to due with the dirt your going to slide anyway you dont need to ebrake for that. you can't grip that stuff so might as well slide it and have some fun

try on tarmac and you sure wont be passing me :naughty:

I was talking about tarmac, dude. But I was j/p anyway, yo.... I probably wouldn't drift in a race (if I ever did) either cuz I wouldn't want to mess up and get in a wreck or something. :uhoh:

I once accidently got my old honda sideways by pulling the ebrake, when I first did my breaks for the 1st time (didn't know what I was doing and had air in the break lines) lol. so I couldn't stop so I got scared and pulled the ebrake lol. But as for you guys bringing up bob sagat..that is old memories..man that guy sucked on americas funniest videos..his jokes were sooo lame

but if I wanted to drift, I'de go buy RWD car not worry about messing w/ the ebrake in a FWD car.

As far as drifting a front wheel drive, you can powerslide, but not true drift. And I HATE 90% of drifters too. Why? Because they don't know how to drift, just fucking oversteer off a corner etc. Drift is becoming rice central. As for antyhing resembling FF drift, I recently slid into Darby St in the wet, bagged it up, had wheel spin full lock to the right, sliding up the road, and got tyre smoke in the RAIN. But still isn't drift to me.

And is big bad mohawk guy an old member having a laugh, or is he for real? What a fucking cranker. He runs 16's and wants to drift? Go buy a fucking camry.

ah i tried drifting my civic, got to sliding pretty good a few times on a rainy day on a slick newly paved block with no traffic no houses, jus a field and a gate. Really screws your alignment up to hell..lol. It's fun, don't care if it's real drifting or not. Drifting is almost like breakdancing, it gets old. Still mad fun tho, sidewayyzzz!

I bet you can do a mad drift on one of those gas powered scooters!! Get at an angle, turn it all the way to one side, and yank the brake!!! If you can drift a scooter, i'd think ur jesus!

Kven
09-10-2004, 06:52 AM
arent camry's FF also?

btw i think it is considered a drift if you can control it. some awd cars require e-brake to initiate drift(done alot in rally cars).

turtlecrxsi
09-10-2004, 10:13 AM
When I say drift in ff it's not the same as rwd... OBVIOUSLY. Drifting in FF looks different and is different. If you got sideways in your FF because you pulled up the e-brake you weren't drifting you were just losing control of your car. Basically, drifting a FF has the same principal as RWD and that is get through the turn as quickly as possible. The difference is you don't go sideways making the car look like a gymnist. When you drift a FF you basically cut corners and when you cut super tight corners you slide some and that is the drift part. You never really lose control... ie. you slide on purpose to own that turn. And also, FF "drifting" is not done all the time. And I don't do it all the time. I practiced the technique a lot to figure it out (on empty roads), but it's only when needed/wanted or having mad fun on dirt roads (easy shit). Oh and where I live the altitude changes constantly because of the terrain and the roads aren't always straight.

:iagree: And those rally cars are set up so the e-brake can be applied with the flick of a wrist instead of reaching down between the seats. Those guys don't do it to hotdog like the drifters though, they do it to knock seconds off a stage.

you want to drift go talk to the 240 guys they love boy racers who are drifters too.

Rally is on dirt fucking sliding anyway so contoling a slide *drift* is better then slopping around and wacking a tree.

I kinda agree with Ace. I don't think "boy racers" should be trying to drift with their Hondas.

BTW: I've been into Rally (tarmac, dirt/gravel, etc.) for many years so I know what I'm doing to and from different types of terrain. But I still have enough sense not to overstep my limits otherwise I probably would not be typing this right now.

I don't race. The nearest competition is like 200 miles away and only takes place like once or twice a year. I first learned how to manipulate the various roads by being the passenger of my 87 tercel hatch (a lot like the std 1.5 4 spd but carbed). I watched what more experienced drivers did first then I started to practice myself. I bought a 944 and beat the piss out of it on dirt/gravel and tarmac in the mountains and had to fix much of the front end. I only really drifted that car once exiting a highway at an unknown exit at 60mph dropping to second and sliding sideways out of it. I got rid of it cuz parts are a rip off. Then I got my CRX cuz it was small, dirt cheap off ebay and it was already modded. I drove it back from NJ, got it running decent, put some adjustable coilovers on it and started to rip the shit out of it. I knew it looked ricey but I hardly ever did the boy racer thing cuz I was concentrating on my own driving skills. My guess is if you can grip drive your civic awesome then you probably won't have trouble with rally. If you care what your ride looks like you may not want to take it off pavement.

Sorry I am a newbie to this forum I have been drifting ff for five years now, i'm sorry but i don't like when people say you can't drift an FF just because you can't do it doesn't mean it can't be done, this applies to everyone that dogs FF drifting is very complicated and obviously you don't understand it if you are saying that FF's can't drift, in short if it has wheels and a motor it can and will be drifted

Sounds reasonable. I slide the wheels on the shopping cart while in walmart to cut corners. If I didn't I'd be there all f*cking day... especially if I got stuck behind that 400lb. woman riding on that sit down cart thingy that sounded like it was about to give out... yes, I'm serious....

when I was on walmart remodeling crew we would take buggys out back and and run as fast as we could into each other, hit hard enough and the buggys will collapse.
