Radar Detector

I just got another speeding ticket today going 76 on the freeway. I F***INg HATE cops. Im planning to get a radar detector. So here my questions, is it worth the money to get a radar detector? Does it even works? If so, can you give any recommendation to what kind of radar detector I should buy? Thanks

Valentine, K40 and escort 8400 is really good but not cheap.

the speed limit was 65. the cops were just being a giant PENIS or dick.

They're not illegal. Maybe in some states but Illinois or Arizona hasn't had a problem with ppl having radar detectors. Expect to pay between 300-400 dollars.

I am very happy with my Valentine One. It tells you where the signal is coming form and how many sources. You still need to have your eyes open for cops (with instant on) and laser is hard to deal with since once you get hit your speed has been measured. You can detect when they laser someone in front of you. I haven't had a ticket since I got mine. Good logic settings for the city too. EXPENSIVE! $400US Cheers!

dam that a grip for a radar detector. i saw one on the home shopping network for a 100. it a cobra brand, are they any good?

I got a ticket for going 11 over one time too. It's not on my record though, I was able to get supervision.

Just remember, radar detectors aren't the cure-all. I got hit when I was using one (don't know the brand, borrowed from a friend) 71 in a 55. It was about 1 in the morning on some highway in the middle of nowhere. Cop was hiding in the shadows - no lights. I hate cops who sit around and only take radar, like there's nothing better for them to be doing.

A radar detector doesn't allow you to get away with speeding, but it does help give you piece of mind. :2cents:

the only way to win is to get a radar jammer, they are illegal in every way. a radar detector wont save you if your speeding down the highway with no-one around you. if the cop has a laser unit also, your done, by the time your detector goes off, the lights are already on in his squad car.

Take it from me, just slow down, and dont waste money on a detector. They are only illegal in VA, MD, and DC.

nope just dc and VA in MD they are legal. and they work but not in the wya u may want. if your doin say 65 in a 55 it may save ur ass but if ur doin 90 in a 50 ur screwed either way.

I've had one for about 5 years now and Ive had tons of tickets...Instant on is a punk!
I've learned the hard way that if you are alone, dont speed; if you see a place a cop could be, slow down; if you have a funny feeling, slow down; if you dont need to speed, DONT.
The only time i really think one should speed is:
A. late for cerfew....ha, whats that!
B. Emergency
C. (dont get on to me) Roastin some idiot who needs it!

IF ya dont want to spend too much money ya may want to look at some radio shack ones. I've got the top model (horizontal) and I love it. It has a voice and i get at LEAST a half mile warning....excluding of course IO and Laser...They are about 200. those 45 dollar wal-mart ones work.....but remember, you get what you paid for!

As far as scramblers go, RMR (rocky mountian radar) has gotten ok reviews but you still need a detector with most models and they will not prevent laser unless they are struck directly (regardless of what they say).
NOW, if you wanna go all out...hehehe, they have kits for thousands that they put laser deflectors in your bumpers and all this stuff in and on your car and ya cant see any of it but no cop can see you with a gun, laser, IO, or anything but his eyes... and I'm not sure if those hold up in court
