Need Instructions on how to replace a strut bearing!!! Help

Found out what the thump was in front of my car a VW mechanic told me that it was a strut bearing. So I got the new bearing and a compresser for the spring. It is a 94 jetta with a auto/4cyl. Simple question how do I fix this problem????
I will be working on the ground with a couple of car jacks and mostly basic tools. Can this be done and how do i do it.

It can be done with basic hand tools, make sure you have a socket that fits the nut at the top of the strut. Removing that nut without the spring properly compressed can be very dangerous. I'd advise taking the strut out of the car by removing the bottom of the strut from the steering knuckle, make sure to mark the two bolt's position as it may affect alignment. You will probably have to find a way to hold the strut rod from spinning when you try to remove the nut, I just use an impact wrench. There are special tools for holding it or you can carefully clamp the top of the rod with a vise-grip (it may score the rod).
