Any Journalist's In Here?

I was wondering if there were any journalist's in here. I was accepted to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale for journalism a few month's ago. I was wondering what your opinions are on the career. You see my problem is that all I'm worried about is money and cars. I thought I wanted a career that you can make a lot of money in because i wanted to be able to buy ferrari's and lamborghini's. But I have yet to find a major in college that can make a lot of money that I actually like. I was thinking that if I get into journalism, because I do love to write and I have always loved it, that I could get a job at one of the automotive publications and at least I could be around the cars. If not an automotive publication maybe a newspaper. My only worry is that I'm not going to make any money and I won't be able to even afford to buy a nice house one day. No matter how hard I try not to think about it, the issue of how much money I can make always pops back into my head. If there are any journalist's out there please give me some insight. Is there room for growth in journalism or will I be making a mediocore salary for the rest of my life? Because if I am only going to just be making it in life with journalism I'm gonna go ahead and go into business and become a money hungry man. I don't want this to happen to me. I don't want my life to revolve around money but I would like to make an amount that would allow me to be a good provider for my family.
