I like to be up nice and close with arms and legs bent to get maximum leverage and maximum control over whats going on.
However if I have to go the distance then its nice to stretch out a bit and straighten my legs and arms.

I know what you're not talking about.......but I'm damned if I can get it out of my head for long enough to figure out what you are talking about!:D :D :D

cycling maybe?;)

Driving position maybe? If it's a long trip then I put the seat back so I can stretch, if I'm driving..."aggresively"(for lack of a better term) then I like to be a little closer so my knees and arms are slightly bent hands at 10 and 2 one foot on the gas and the other on the dead pedal, position changes slightly for shifts of course :)

When I'm cruising around town I am positioned farther back to let my legs strecth. (Bad knee) I usually have my left hand on the bottom of the steering wheel. But when I am driving aggressively or cornering for fun or something, I like to be closer so that my legs are bent slightly and my hands I keep at 9 and 3.

When I drive, I'm either in 1 of 2 modes: pursuit or cruise. Most of my driving is spent in cruise mode... Seat pushed almost all the way back and somewhat reclined. This position is good for 2 things: I'm more relaxed and the music is better balanced! :) In pursuit mode, the seat is much closer w/ the back more upright.

I like missionary & it's many variations... http://www.hondastyle.com/forums/images/smilies/orangeyes.gifhttp://www.theunholytrinity.org/cracks_smileys/otn/wink/thumb.gif

Dammit Moppie, you've done it again!!! :o

I had "some" the other night (previous joke for those who remember)...

At any rate, I prefer to sit with my seat back almost entirely upright. Since I'm in the States, I drive with my Left hand on about 7 and my right hand on the gear shifter (I drive a standard). As for leg position, I like it so that when the clutch is all the way down, my leg is just short of fully extended.

Gee at least someone is getting "some" :p

I drive in a neutral position. Knees slightly bent with arms slightly bent. The seats in the GTR wrap around you so well it is hard to sit in any other position.

Gee razor, thats horrible, you must be soooo unconfortable... I guess you had better just give it away. Hey I know this guy here in the states who is gonna move to NZ, he could use a car... Oh, he likes skylines too:D :jump: :silly:

Any how, I drive with seat very upright, close up on the pedels...

I guess driving position would be more logical....but it never occured to me....at 6'5" the usuall driving position is seat hard back, neck craned forwards, knees straddling steering wheel...when will they start realising that not everybody is the standard build? :p :p :p :p

Um thats not good for the selectors in the gearbox.

My driving position depends on the car im in, its seems that varied, from "situp and beg" like the Mini and Nissan Navara, to half looking down your nose in the MGF and my del sol.

I just put it wherever its comfortable

You could get in trouble otherwise. ;)

You guys are no damn fun!

Im a little on the short side so I tend to be close to the wheel whether I like it or not. Forunatly the civic is designed for short Japanese people so I have no trouble fitting into it.
I have to open the sunroof blind however for several 6ft plus friends to fit into the passanger seat.

oh, and Tangi, I havnt had any in ages. Im to lazy. ;)

Really, thats surprising, Im 5'10" and im only about 3 clicks away from being right at the front of my seat runners, Ive had a 5'6" tall person drive it but if you were any shorter you wouldnt be able to, theres no way my sister can drive it, she can barely reach the pedals let alone push them all the way in

that short people design of 80s japanese cars is one f the main reasons they appeal to me (the newer civics & other such cars dont have the same feel in this area - they have been too americanized)

when driving normally, the seat is set so that with the clutch pedal to the floor, my leg is straight, but ankle not extended, shocks all at 1, tires at factory recommended pressure of 26 psi, hands at 3 & 9, seat reclined so that my palm rests on top of the steering wheel when relaxed

for autocross/fun backroads driving, leg slightly bent when clutch is to the floor (im 5'4" so this means either all the way fwd, or 1 notch from it), seat reclined so that my wrists rest on the top of the steering wheel when my shoulders are touching the seat back, hands at 3 & 9 on the wheel. front shocks at 1, rear shocks at 5, 44 psi front tires, 40 rear tires

Well im about 5'7" and with the seat all the way back my legs are still bent. (and I have short legs). But I do have the back nearly straight up.
If Im really going for it I'll move the seat forward one or two notchs so my arms are more bent. Its how I used to drive my first car, so its how Iv learned to drive. Very britsh style, rather than Itialian.

Try driving a T Series MG, the steering wheel is so close to you your elbows are behind your back.

On a TC the steering wheel is that close to the dashboard your knuckles graze one of the switches as you turn it

I sit about 4 clicks from the closest position, and with the back, just half a click back.

I also have a padded back support because I get a sore back from scoliosis sometimes, and it also just gives me a bit of extra height, and reach. Only annoying thing is because I'm sitting slightly higher up, my knees may hit the steering column when moving my legs to change pedals, or pop the clutch in.

If I didn't have the padded support, I'd have problems reaching the pedals.

i drive with my seat all the way back and the back reclined a good amount. my dad always makes fun of me b/c he says the seat looks like a recliner, but its most comfortable for me.:D

i am 5'5'' but i drive like a puerto rican, maybe cuz im half spanish? but i push my seat back as far as i can with me still being able to push the pedals, either left hand on at 12 or at 6, only drive with one hand, or none, i drive with my knees a lot/ and my seat is reclined about -65 degrees, most puerto ricans drive this way cuz there rolling a :smoka: and no body can see

and when im driving with a chick, my knees do the driving, one hand on her ass one on her head :finger: :flipa: :finger: :flipa:

I drive with my seat as far back as it will go (thanks to my stupid out of proportion long legs :( ) with the seat back pretty much straight upright so that my arms have a slight bend when resting on the steering wheel.

well due to the nature of 4door skylines mine is a little cramped but still good.

Arms bent at 9 and 3. seat set so 1st gear is at full extension of the arm. that causes the legs to be bent a little more than i would like, but it's still lots o' fun to drive.

Gonthrax I have two GTR's fer ya. You just have to put them together :p

Since I am a bit of a shorty my chest is about 20 inches off the steering wheel hahaha.

PM and Taranaki....you 2 are too much :lol2: The 4" tip on my exhaust will own your NOS stickers! :p Too bad I removed my Eibach Springs stickers....I lost about 5 HP right there :(

I like to drive with my right hand on the wheel and my left arm on the door sill with the window down....at least while the weather is nice right now. Then when summer comes it will be left hand on wheel right arm on arm rest. AC on full blast. As for my seats, I have it so that I am stretched out nice n comfy but not too forward or 2 far back. The seats are as upright as they can get because they already lean back slightly anyways (NSX seats). Plus they sit way lower than my stock seats did, and I don't have a cap to put on backwards :D

:D ...ooops, just read the other posts....er um, driving we are talking about eh? Well I like to put the seat all the way back and drive with my left hand at the 11 o'clock position. Not advised, but quite pimpalicious and relaxing. On long trips I'll just keep one hand at the 6 o'clock position. I hardly ever do two handed driving unless it's on a golf course.

A friend of mine is 6'5" and he puts his seat all the way back and reclines it a ton. When he pulls up it looks like he's driving from the back seat. He could seriously roll down the back window and stick his head out.

cliffud

seat all the way back- reclined quite a bit.

left knee bent and resting against door handle, left elbow on door and hand resting on left knee while holding the wheel at 9 o clock.

right elbow resting on arm rest and right arm on gear shifter close enough to adjust stereo controls.

i'm 5'9'' and thick so it's easy for me to reach the steering wheel with the seat all the way back and it reclined quite a bit.
