Anyone miss the S10?

Haven't really heard much complaining about the demise of the small truck. Note Ford has cut production way back of the Ranger, sales are half what they were last year. I'd think the small truck market would be really strong with gas hitting 2 bucks a gallon and limited choice in the market now. Maybe Toyota has the market cornered?

I definitely miss the S-10. I have a 2002 4.3L S-10 Extended cab. It makes a wonderful small service truck. Expensive equipment goes behind the seats, and big stuff ges in the back. I went intot he dealer to buy another one just like it. Sadly it is no longer available, and the 4.3L is not available in the Colorado that is positioned to replace the S-10. Instead there is the I-5 3.5L that supposedly developes 20 more ponies. Well, I needed the truck, and I didn't wnat to buy another full size. Its a nice truck, and it handles well, but I have to be honest. I would have rather bought another S-10 just like the last one instead. It was ideally configured for my business.

well...like alternator went out...then freeze plugs I guess broke....head gasket leaked gas into radiator....water pump...all in about a year ..so now imma put another 4.3 or rebuild the one i got till i can save enough to start my v8 383 stroker transplant....

This all sounds like a cascading effect from a blown head gasket introducing oil and fuel into the cooling system.

This will eat and destroy, seals, damage water punp bearings and cause the freeze plug problem.

There is no need to replace the motor because of this unless you threw a rod or something.

Well it ran fine but just performance was off a little and leaked coolant...
so i guess just replace freeze plugs and head gasket... i wanna port-polish heads just clean to it up ....maybe an ignition system and some other various upgrades to help the 4.3 reach its potential...(i have a functional dual ram air hood on my truck)

more air(ram air ) + more fire(ignition) + maybe even fuel upgrade.... = :smokin: MORE POWER :smokin:

I have 2 right now. I have had 6 (84-91) over the years and I love them. They are dirt cheap to re-build and tons of parts, plus they are good to hotrod. I have only had the 4-banger and 2.8 v6 engines and still looking for a reliable motor (4.3 v6 maybe??). I just finished a total re-build on my truck (approx. $3000.00 cdn) body, interior, suspension, paint. I have $2000.00 left for new motor and trans. Wintertime project !!!!!!!!

These things are sooo simple !!!

Nope, should be the same or even better seeing it won't be working as hard as the 4.3L.
