in an auto, ur best bet is to neutral drop; ie. put car into neutral, rev to about 5000 rpm, then while still revving, drop into drive. dont do it too often tho, or else u need a new tranny. also, since its a front wheel drive car, pull the e-brake as soon as the tires are slipping. make sure u hold down the release button so u can let go at will. for the manual, put it into gear, hold down the clutch, rev to 5k or around there, and dump the clutch. same procedure wit the e-brake. for really massive burnouts, do the above things after going in reverse for a bit.

your auto v6 should be able to burn out by just flooring it, no brakes required

as an alternative to neutral drops...which are just stupid...put the car in second instead, press the brake, press the gas until the rpm's come up quite a bit...then drop it from second to first jump off the brake and floor it (all at the same time)...like was said above pull the park brake to keep the car from moving forward. Bascially it's easier to powerbrake in second and not as dangerous to the tranny to go from 2-1 instead of N-1

or, just pull the e-brake first, hold the regular brakes while in 1st or L, wind up the motor, then just let go of the brake pedal.
In the mexican tranny (nm, not funny), lay on the e-brake, hold the clutch in, shift to 1, floor it, then dump the clutch. If you're brave, and the car has the power, you could quick-shift to second, and create LOTS more smoke...
But, what do I know?

Does the 2 in the automatic mean that is actually in 2nd gear at all times? Most cars that have the 1,2,3,D,etc. usually mean that it is the highest gear it will change into. For instance; if you had it in 2 it will still start out in 1st gear, but after it changes into second it won't change into any higher gear. That is probably the way its setup, but if it does work that way I would just rev it up with the brake on and then floor it and let off the brake. As rubix said, it should be able to spin anyways. However I personally wouldn't do this myself, but it is your car and your free to treat it however you wish.

This is a dopey thread.
What are you trying to accomplish?
Lots of smoke and some cool pics, maybe a video?
If so, get a bottle of WD 40, or some trans fluid and pour 2, 18-inch wide pools of it on the pavement.
Put the front wheels in the pools, put the E brake on and floor it in drive.
Your tires will easily spin through third gear, you will make HUGE smoke, and its a lot easier than dry pavement.
Dry pavement is really really hard on the driveline for burn outs.
