Torbo Question

Im going to get a greddy turbo with the whole intercooler shabam. I know a few things about turbos, and when i say a few, i mean i know it spins and forces air here and there :icon16: and i know thats a good thing haha, BUT!! to much of good thing is bad. So here is where i come to you smartest people out there! i have found out that greddy makes like 7 different types of turbos

TD-04H 15G
T67 25G
T78 33D
T88 33D
T88H 34D
T88 34D
T88 33D

I have no idea what those numbers mean, if those are sizes, or how fast they spin, or how shiny they look under your hood or who knows... so when it comes to those 7 sets of numbers im like this :eek7:

can someone tell me

1.what most PSI of boost i can run on my engine without any internal work? I know the shot peeneed crank can withstand 600hp not sure about the rods and the pistons. Greddy comes with a 6psi out of hte box correct? So what can i safely boost it up to on a stock engine?

Now lets say i do engine work, with some low compresion pistons, some shot peeneed rods and my stock shot peeneed crank, polished out head with a better oil pump some other mods,
2.can i run to 15psi?
3.and what would 15psi get my engine up to? i heard that at 20psi you need to run octane ? or can i still run regular fuel?
4. how high can i go with regular fuel on boost?

5.how much HP would i be adding if i was just to do the internal engine work with forged parts with turbo capability? (without turbo)

Screw torbos, install some torpedos. Once they pass you and your weak ass torbo, BLAM!! blow them off the road. :)

ok with stock internals you can run saftly 9-10psi with good fuel managment(bigger injectors, fpr,255intank, safc ect..)

octane is what fuel is made of.. ex- 87 ,89,91,93 octane is sold here in the u.s you can get c-16 (116 octane) and mix it into your gas, the more octane higher flash point,

15psi on a worked ka motor will give you about 350whp..
20psi will be tuff to do, you really need to work the motor internals and all the fuel and ignition system..
i say dont go past 18psi on street gas..

you wont make to much more hp with a built turbo motor and no turbo, it will drop your compression down low and most likely you will loss hp with out the turbo..

as for the turbos, greddy makes alot mor turbos than what you have listed
td05-16g
td05-20g
td06-16g
td06-20g
ect.. you need a turbo with a .65a/r or better, that will give you not too much lag and good top end.. you dont want to small of a turbine or else you will loss the turbo on the top end and will not make power untill red line.

you need to go to google.. its your firend, learn how turbos work, learn about the a/r sizes, what a turbine and a compressor is, the inducer and exducer is, and all that good stuff, know about the bigger housing and small wheel will lead to more top end same spool up, small housing big wheel faster spool up.. ect..

have fun and go do your reseach

Nissanfanatic told me about this and its pretty helpful. I also bought a copy of the book Maximum Boost by corcky bell you should think about reading both if you are gonna install that kit of yours. might as well know what all the parts do right? its a big benefit knowing :D
