I am having a problem with my 95 240 that I just bought last week. I am going to do the S14 swap in about 2 months, so I want this thing to be in perfect condition before I do it. Anyways, I keep hearing a sound coming from the rear, or trunk of my car every time I either brake hard, or take off somewhat fast. It sounds like there is a bowling ball in my trunk that just keeps rolling back, but my trunk is perfectly clean, and I know it has to be something mechanical. Please, if you have any experience with this problem or have any ideas of what it could be, I would really appreciate them. Thanks a lot.

it can be many things actually. By the way you have an S14 already, did you mean S15? or the S14MC? (MC stands for Mino Change) because i myself have an S14 95 and going to convert to the S14MC with the headlights and the taillights possibly.
Now about teh noise in the back, it could be your spare tires or some other loose things where the spare tires sits. Pull the spare tire cover out and pull the spare out and everything else thats there and drive it and see if the noise is still there. If its still there, pull off the side trunk carpet covers, maybe something is behind the walls. You said it sounds like a bowlinbg ball when you accel fast and stop fast, so it could possibly be your rotors or something in that are also some of the rear end rods might be loose. it can be many things, maybe even the rear end is bad.
You bought your car a week ago so you dont know anything about that car until you check everything with your own hands. I bought my 95 240 about a month ago and my goal is to check every bolt with my own hands and make sure everything is tight and perfect. Since im going to change the rotors and the clutch and flywheel ill put my car up on 4 jack stands and check everything i possibly can, from head to toe!, i suggest you do the same thing. Not only you will feel more comfortable with your car, but also you will know where stuff is :) .. good luck.

first off check your driveshaft for any play... this is a BAD thing lol.
if its nice and solid and doesn't clunk around then it could be your differential acting up.... Check out all the stupid free shit first, like he said above... then check the driveshaft, and get an opinion from a transmission shop(not aamco). If it is your differential ready to go, midas well upgrade to a LSD and possibly change the rear gear on it, thats a mod I don't see done a lot to 240sx's and it really can help. If you raise the gear ratio number 10%...your going to get 10% faster acceleration... changing the rear gearing of a car makes a NOTICEABLE difference. If you know your never going to go over 140mph or something then you might want to look into a ratio that tops out around there, thus giving you better low end acceleration. If you want a better top speed, but slower acceleration you can change to a lower number gear ratio. It all just takes some investigating of what ratios reach what speeds and what kind of rpm they produce at cruising speed. for instance so many rpm in 5th gear at 70mph. The r200 diff is used in pretty much any nissan that has power to the rear wheels and the variety of cars produce a variety of gear ratio options. 240z, 260z, 280z, 300zx z31 and z32, all 240sx's, 350z(although it is a tad different with its VDC shit), Skylines, Q45, M45, M30, and J30.
