Taurus Stalling

'90 Taurus, 3.0 L v6. I can start the car, drive it for about 20 - 30 mins then the "check engine" light comes on and it stalls. After about 10 minutes it will start up again and away I go. Seldomly it will stall again on the same trip. I have replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, O2 sensor, and fuel filter. Some say its not the fuel pump because it shouldn't run at all if it is the pump. Some say it may be another sensor. I took it into a Ford dealer, they can't locate anything while on the scope and it won't stall for them. Anyone got any other ideas? Don't want to put a lot of money into it though. Thanks

Brent60, I am having the same problem. I have had it to two repair facilities. One has run two tanks of gas through it. Have chngd fuel pump, electronic CT module, fuel filter, O2 sensor and still having the problem. If you have heard anything on fixing this problem please email me at [email protected]

First remove the MASS air flow sensor and make sure the screen inside is not plugged. This is the silver component between the airbox and the intake manifold, 2 hose clamps hold it in place. To clean it use Berrymans throttle body cleaner. It could be the fuel pump. Lots of people told me the fuel pump either works or it doesn't. Wrong! My fuel pump had very little fuel pressure but the car would still run for about 30 minutes then die. I replaced the fuel pump assembly not just the pump and have had no more problems.

Thanks! My Mech has replaced the new NAPA fuel pump with a Motorcraft Pump and it seems my problem has gone away. I hope it does not return. Thanks again.
