SO i decided to go with what everyone up here in the forums said and i am gonna go get a custom cat-back done by a muffler/exhaust shop. First of all what are some key questions i should asks about there exhaust?? what size piping should i get for my GS, not looking for much power gain, but i want a nice noise.. And should i buy an aftermarket muffler or use one of the ones they have for sale?? how much does this usually cost???

I would bring my own muffler, or at least not pay more than $50-60 for one of theirs (some shops have cheap labor and pipe bending in order to overprice their expensive mufflers). I got mine off of a friend who bought it off of ebay (I paid $30, he probably paid $40).

Ask them these questions:

-Is their piping mandrel or press bent? Mandrel is preferred; if you get press bent it will be slightly smaller diameter at the bends (so if you get 2.5", the bends might be 2.2", maybe even a bit less).

-Get them to quote you an estimate for what you want before you give them the goahead to start.

GS piping should be fine with 2.5"...I would assume that even pressbent 2.5" should be okay for you as well.

bro, for a non-turbo, dont get anything a lot bigger than 2.25"...press and mendrel doesnt matter too much for an NA, trust me...like ive said before on posts like these, I had dual exhaust with 2.5" press bent piping on the spyder in my sig. it was a 2.4 nt, and it DESTROYED low end... and I could feel anything noticable on high end either...it was more of a show mod than anything else for me (ricerz in da house say "HOOOOOO")... like joe said, get your muffler off ebay, here are some ones I like:

if your going fi in the future: 2.5
if your not going fi: 2.25, mine's 2.25 but i'm a 6...there's more motor crap to deal w/

I think it would make more sense to make it 3" if he plans to go FI, but if not then you should be fine with 2.5" piping...Stock piping is already 2.25 so its pointless spending money on something he already has

no, true dual exhaust. i changed my cat to one with 2 outlets, so they did a Y-piping straight from the cat. Magnaflow sells those 1-2 cats.
