Help me find fuel pump relay for 87 legend

I heard it on NPR - no really the Car Talk guys - that the problem with my 87 Acura Legend intermittant starting was the fuel pump relay. Sure enough - fuse was blown, etc. I purchased the relay with the full assurance from the Part's guy that it was "right underneath the driver's side dash." Next call assured me "all I had to do was take off the knee cover." I still can't find it. "It's on the left, our tech's don't have any trouble finding it." Anyone have any more specific directions to this relay? Thanks a lot. My battery has gone dead trying to get this fixed!

I had the same problem - finding the dang thing... :banghead:
Standing in front of the car, looking toward the rear, it is on your right, behind the battery.
It is a black box-like thing about 5-6 inches by 7-9 inches. On the "front" (closest to the battery), there is a small lip that you can push against to release the lid. pull it up and back (toward the back of the car). As you do, there are two hing-like connectors that will keep the lid connected till it is almost completely removed.
The fuel pump relay is the small box-shaped thing second from the left, about an inch by an inch by maybe an inch and a half.
Don't recall if you have to squeeze it, but if you pull it up hard, it will come out.
You're looking at about $40 to replace it.
And for what it's worth, within two weeks of my replacing it, the new one burned out, so good luck.
