Check engine soon light

I have a 92 riv 3.8 non turbo that the check engine soon light comes on and off. engine code 44. It seems that on excel and steady throttle it comes on and will go off on decel. I tried some injector cleaner in my gas tank when I filled it up and for about a week it stayed off. The next time I filled it up I drove about 60 mile with it off no problems until I got on it to pass on the highway and the light came on again and has been ever since on and off. Also it idles or lopes up and down in rpm's when stoped. I checked all vacuum line's and also it has new air filter and pcv valve. any help would be appreciated.
