blower directional switch

The A/C blower directional switch isn't working. It will only blow out the windshield area. I move the switch to other positions but it doesn't change the direction of airflow. HELP! The a/c position works fine, it's the directional airflow that won't switch from the windshield to the floor or dash. 1995 Explorer eddie bauer.
