Ah, it's a good day (not really, work sucks, 3-day weekend my ass, but this helps)
Even more new VIP wheel releases coming next month, and this month's batch isn't even out yet.
Kranze Borphes
Admiration Amistad R
Kranze LXZ
Lowenhart LD5 LX
All 19".
Too much to buy. 8 new wheel sets. F50 Cima's, new D1 cars, new Zero Crown, new R34, Carrera GT, Murcielago. I couldn't build fast enough if there were 3 of me. But more choices are good. Time to update my website. And place pre-orders.

None of the usual sites have them up for pre-order yet, but I'm sure they'll be up in a few days. Hobby Search has pre-orders up for all the new Aoshima kits coming out for the rest of the year that have been announced.

C1/C2 Veilside Supra sounds cool, but Aoshima doesn't have a current 1/24 mold for the Supra. Only thing they got is the AMT 1/25 version they repackaged for S Version R #82. Hmm, their homepage description says 1/24 though. Could this be all new? (contains excitement)

I know this is a wheel thread, but FYI on Byron's news about Aoshima's C1/C2 Veilside Supras, R10 states under the section for the Plamodel Radicon show that they have been canceled. And Aoshima's site says something about it being discontinued at the show, too. Not sure if the whole kit is canceled or if it's just not going to be on display at the show. (Japanese translation software is hardly very clear)
EDIT : HLJ shows them as Discontinued in their ordering system now.

Damn.....
Maybe that's good because the drift releases and the wheels are already a good chunk of money. Not to mention the S15-R that's supposed to come out at any time now.
I wonder if they in fact tried to pass the AMT over to the Veilside? That would be a big tsk tsk IMO.

Slightly off topic, but still VIP wheel related. Aoshima will be adding 19" Work LS207's to the upcoming F50 Cima late-model kit (Best Car GT #43). So many new wheels released this year, though this one will probably end up on 2005.

Not sure what those large polycaps are for. Haven't tried fitting them to any kits yet.
Only new Fujimi wheel I picked up was the less than Fabulous Expands. I got a set to cut up and make it bigger and more accurate. I'll be doing that after I finish fixing the Amistad D to 19" and more dish.

The bigger polycap is to adapt them for other Aoshima or Fujimi kits. All the LUXY wheels are real shallow because of the adjustable suspension. Those luxy suspensions stick out further than the regular non adjustable ones, so if you don't use those big polycaps, the wheels might rub the inner wheel well. Hope this helps. :)

Joe, are all the different wheel sets the same overall diameter? I'm looking for something that's about 1-1/8" in diameter with low profile tires, something like the chrome bling Luxy sets. Are any of them taller than others?

I got some Kranze LXZ's the other day, they're great! I'm putting them on a slammed, black R31 Skyline 4 door hardtop model. The angular spokes suit the squarish car well.
I got some of the work meister S1's as well though, and I'm just disappointed, they just don't look right, and appear (to me) undersize for an 18". If only they'd do a 19" meister S1 (well, same size as their other 19" VIP wheels) with a wider lip...

That's about 1-1/16". I haven't received the new 20" wheels yet, but they might be closer to the size you're looking for. There is a 20" wheel in one of the Luxy kits. All the rest are 19's.

20" - 28mm diameter wheel and tire. These might be closer to what you are looking for, Phil.
Good things, they're new wheels! In the latest VIP Style, seems like every other car had Ordens on them. Must be pretty popular in Japan. 20", always a good thing.
Bad things, one-piece, though the Ordens are molded with a deep offset. The worst thing is Aoshima used they same tires from the 19" wheels. You just stretch them more to fit over the 20's. I was hoping to get new, even lower profiler tires (like on the box pic).
