Here is my next/latest project. It is made by Tamiya and is in 1:24 scale. The paint job will be a 2 tone, gloss alluminium on the top half and gun metal on the bottom half. The bumpers and rub strips will be semi gloss black and the interior will be 2 shades of grey.
The quality of this kit was quite poor in my opinion, where the body is concerned. The molding was totally out of line on the rear bumper, so extensive filing was needed and on the bonnet there was a big sink hole which i had to fill.

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/203672prog07-med.jpg
The wheels in the picture will not be used. I will be using 350Z wheels, maybe painted matt black.

I am toying with the idea of using this rear wing. Please can i have you opinions on this. What do you think about it?

I like the wing on the back, it should make for an interesting build. I noticed the box is tamiya and that there is an undersurface representing the engine, so why did you cut the hood off or was it already off?

I cut the hood off myself. There is another peice that goes on top of the under tray with the engine from above. There is actually about 10 peices to the engine. Quite alot for a Tamiya. In the picture with all the peices in the major part is to the right of the seats. You will see in the progress.

Whoa, this is going to be sweet, especially having an engine to display. I can't wait to see more progress of this one. Good choice in removing the hood !!!

Here are the bits so far.
I have painted the whole body with Tamiya gloss alluminium and tomorrow i will paint the bottom half with Tamiya gun metal. The under coat was Tamiya flat white. They had no primer in the shop. Now they do, so i will get that next time.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/203672prog08-med.jpg
I have painted the underside of the car with semi gloss black and highlighted some details with a flat alluminium enamel.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/203672prog09-med.jpg
And i have started the engine bayby painting the block flat alluminium and the cam covers flat red.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/203672prog10-med.jpg
I'm not sure about the wheels now. If i don't get them by tomorrow i will probably use the original wheels that came with the kit. The modifications i will no doubt need to do for the 350Z wheels are holding me up a bit, and i want to get crackin'.
Please give me your comments and suggestions.

I am using the 2 tone colour scheme, but the wheels will be 350z wheels. I think they look much better than the originals. The only problem is, though, i have to make some disc brakes. More update pics very soon.

Not really, but theyre pretty quick, the NA ones kinda lack power, but the turbos are no slouch.
A friend of mine has 4 of them right now... here is his black turbo... and his red NA, the red one has a freshly repainted front end now, he painted the black part on the bumper to match, it looks really good... also, the stock rear spoiler here looks much better than the one in that kit... i say lose the spoiler, maybe try to make something like on his.

I think you should make an engine cover thing like this if the kit doesnt include one yet:

Cool. Thanks hash man. The spoiler in my pictures by the way came from a dodge challenger that i made, it was kinda left over, so i toyed with the idea of using it. I was planning a spoiler just like the ones in your picures because it is very '80s but i am not that good at scratch building. Rubbish in fact. I have enough work with the brake rotors and callipers.
