my door is not open

98 taurus se 110kmi. Even when the driverside door is securely shut, the door open light is still on. I know that it is the driverside door that it thinks is open because when i begin to drive the doors will not automaticly lock. they would if it was any other door. Its not so much a problem as it is a pain. I removed the interior lights so that my battery wouln't drain. Has anybody else had this problem or a solution?

WD-40 the door catches, you have a stuck sensor thats giving false readings.

yeah those sensors are a real common problem. try the wd-40 and if that works, great, problem fixed. if not the sensors are cheap and pretty easy to change.

I have had the same problem but only in cold weather. I removed the relay switch that keeps the dome light on. It usually happens in really cold weather. It hasn't been on in a while, so if it does, I'll try the WD 40 and reinstall the relay switch.
