'97 Jeep SERIOUS Electrical Probs

Okay, I know next to nothing about vehicles - including my own - so I was hoping to get some much needed insight here. I have a '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee which I am growing to hate because of the problems I'm having with it. I was trying to sell it, but then all this electrical crap came up and I can't very well sell it the way it is. For a while the dash stuff (speedometer, gas gage, etc.) had been going off and on... not for any good reason, just would work and then suddenly would shut off and not work for a few minutes - I could still drive just fine and everything, and then it would come back on. NOW... it never works... and neither do the power windows. All the stereo/radio/heat stuff works (the A/C has never worked well) but my gages and "dummy lights" and windows don't work at all and it sucks. Any ideas? I would do anything to fix it so I could sell it, I just want a car. Know anyone who'd like a dying Jeep in exchange for an older Honda Accord?? :) Please, please let me know if you have any ideas - I'm desperate! [email protected]

Is it the back lighting of the guages that is intermittent, or the indication? I would start with checking your grounds, makesure that there tight and clean. Also check your fuses, may be blown or loose connection. It could also be your ignition switch, the next time that things go out, jiggle the key and see if anything changes. Good luck.
