Boosting after a BHG

Since I finished the BHG on my 89 Turbo she has not been boosting as well as before the BHG. My question is if I am off one tooth on my timing will that cause my boosting to be off. Befor I would boost at 8, now im only boosting at about 5. Any answers you can give would be a great help. Thanks.
