i have been looking at buying a diff truck for a while and found one with what i want in it except that it has a split bench seat instead of bucket seats with a console. I was wondering if it is possible to do such a swiitch, at what cost, and if i would have to have to pay someone to do it for me? thx

I would love to do the opposite. I want a 60/40 bench with console arm rest in place of my console and buckets. Is it possible to just swap the console and passenger seat for the "60" bench part?

my 04 has a full front bench seat and theres not even an arm rest, so its basically another seat in the middle and it doesn't move. kind of annoying not having an armrest or anything, is there anyone i can replace the middle or somehow rip the back off and put it on custom brackets so it can fold down or something?

I think all of the seats will swap out from Silverado's, Denali's, Escalades etc.....

You two need to get together and swap console for center seat.
The 'new' Silverados, as you have probably noticed, have all the same seat configuration. Basically two captains chairs with either a console, or a center seat.
The center seat in the 'LS' or 'LT' has a fold down back so that you can have a center armrest with an internal glove compartment.
The center seat in the 'WT' or plain Silverado has a lower priced seat that still has the captains chairs, but the center section doesn't fold. I agree that these are a pain and I can't see why that they aren't made to fold. What would it cost?---two bucks a seat on their end??
If you want a center console, you shouldn't have trouble finding someone that would trade you for the center seat.
I have had several regular cabs with the center console and would have traded for a center seat----and paid difference. Buyer's prefer something that seats more than two people.
I have gotten to where I won't even buy any truck that has the cheap seat.
Just my :2cents:

How hard of a change would this be to make? I don't have a truck yet, but I am looking at them (late model 1999 Ext Cab Silverado z71) as I said but, all I seem to find in my price range and with the other options I want are split bench seats. As you say this is possible to do, would it be very hard, or would I have to pay someone to do it? Like is it as simple as unbolting the seat and replacing it with the console? Can I just go down to my local junkyard and try and find a console to match?

All you have to do is unbolt the factory seat, and bolt the other one in. I'll be taking mine out in a couple of days so I can install my new system, so I'll look for anything that might hold you up.
