I have a small block 350 in my 1985 s10 blazer with the vette radiator, what else might help it keep cool.

There is some new chemical that you can pour in the rad, which is suposed to keep the engine 30.deg cooler.
I don't know what it's called, but I'm sure that your local parts store will be able to find it for you. In B.C. Canada Lorco handles it.

It is called water wetter and you don't need it.
As long as you have a good cooling sytem, you will be fine.
I suggest using a 180 degree thermostat though.

I've got a 10 thermostat in it now... it cooled it off quite a bit but still is running a little warm. It cant handle the stoping in California traffic.

How warm is it running?
Have ou checked your rad when dead cold to see if the coolant is right up to the top?

Ok, is it right up to the top when the engine is completely cold after sitting overnight?
I am serious on the cold thing, it has to be STONE COLD.
Also, best bet would be to install a fresh rad cap if it hasn't been ever replaced.

what type of fan are you using? if you have an electric fan, it might not be moving enough air through the radiator when you are at a dead stop

2 things to look into are a fan shroud will always help cooling.
But more likely since your engine gets hotter while driving at highway speeds your bottom rad hose is probably too soft which lets it collapse, resorting in less coolant flow
Replacing the bottom rad hose, or even putting a big spring in it should help cure this problem.

In my opinion the best looking ways to eliminate any collapsing rad hoses, and probably the strongest is get a muffler shop to bend you a pipe the right size, and shape.
Then take it in to get chrome plated. You will still have to use short pieces of flexible hose on both ends.
I did this on my last hotrod, and it eliminated the same problem.

I saw on TV they put two 12'' Fans on the radiator to help it cool off better, just thought i'd add that in there.

It would be tough fitting 2 12" fans on the s10.
