Update: Condenser Fan - Elec

When I connect the battery, I hear a single click coming from the vicinity of the alternator. I read that the relay is mounted within the alternator, and I just wanted to know if this sound is normal, or do I have a bad relay? If so, can it be replaced without special tools, or would I be better off getting a new alternator. The car is a 1988 Legend 4 door with a 2.6 liter (?) 24 valve engine.
