If I understand your question right, then there have been A LOT of threads in this forum about that.
The normal answer is that it makes your engine more willing to take rpm above 4500rpm, saves you a little fuel, gives you a slight improvement in effect and gives you a GREAT sound. ;)

Yes it will get you about 5whp over a POP charger.
