Everything electical on my 2001 has worked fine until I turned the key to start yesterday and had no response. Nothing. It appeared the battery had completely drained. Got a jump and it started with no problem. Let it run to charge up and then turned off the engine. Tried to start again and this time the windshield wipers turned on by themsleves, the dash lights turn on and nothing else. Got another jump and it started right up. This time the Service Engine Soon light remained on when the engine was running. Turned off the engine and it won't start again. Wipers and dash lights turn on by themsleves when trying to start, but nothing else. Any suggestions on what the heck is going on and how to fix it?

First, I'd try a new battery. If the battery isnt holding the charge than that could be it. Especially since it is probably the same Nissan battery they put in it when it was new.

If that doesn't work take it to a dealership and have them check the codes. Pep Boys or the like would also check the codes too.

Hell, just try removing, cleaning, and re-tightening the battery post clamps, seem to recall someone else having similar problems and that was all it took to clear it up.

Thanks for the advice. It was the battery, and a new one fixed the problem. I've never had one just die that quickly. They usually show some sign biting the dust before hand.

Thanks again!
