I dont know alot about hooking up a great sound system but i do know the basis. I'm not quite sure but I might know what actually causing the WHINNING sound, just wanted to be 100% sure. I bought a cheap ass amp for $40 bucks (Cupid amp). I follow all the instruction and wire all the wires where its suppose to go. here my problem. the amp work fine and all when car engine is off. But once the car is running and everytime, when i step on the gas, i hear a WHINNING sound coming speaker and sub that i hook the amp up to. I dont know but is there a problem with my wiring or it jsut the amp itself. can someone please tell me all the problem associated with a bad cheap amp.
One more thing i wanted to mention, i kindof like the WHINNING sound, sounds like a supercharger in my car but instead coming from the engine comparment it coming from the trunk. HAHA

I think I heard that if you run your rca's next to the power wire you can get engine noise in your speakers. I'm not sure if this is true but you can check that.

I have had the same problem in varying degrees for a while- for me I know it stems from having cheap audio equipment(cheap amp. and the cheapest wiring). What helped a little is when I played with the wires coming out of the amp. It solved the problem for a very short time but the engine noise is probably always going to be there with cheap wiring. Also, some of the whining in my case was coming from the RCA-to-headunit connection. But again all due to cheap wiring in my case. Best advice- upgrade as soon as possible. But you like it so I don't know what to say to that

Get a better ground. Ground straight to the frame. Make sure that there is no paint where your ground is connected. It wont be a good connection.

do u think if i wrap the all the speaker, RCA, and power wire in protection wire (those plastic thingy) that it would help out with the whinning. im gonna try it out and get back to u guys.

The wiring I initially used was a no name, and I mean it didn't have a name on the wires itself lol, brand that the audio shop used. They charged me like 30-40 bucks to install an amp to my speakers. The wiring I have now, after just installing my subs. are phoenix gold wires. I hear no engine noise with these. I bought 3 packs for my car and forget the price so i'll check on that. More than 30 dollars though. The instant difference, before even installing the wires is the visual thickness between my old wiring and the phoenix gold (PG). For example a PG 8 guage wire was noticeably thicker than the no name brand, even though they were suppose to be the same size, both 8 guage. I'm going back to my speaker guy today so I'll try to get a better explaination as to why the PG's are better. I don't know what other brands are also good for wiring but I can check on that too. Also, there are other factors that can contribute to the noise like 95dxcivic and boosted92hb were explaining. Get quality work cause you get what you pay for, that will solve alot.

Phoneix Gold huh. so did u replace the whole wiring, including the power, ground, remote, RCA, and speaker wire? or is is just the RCA?

Because I wanted to do a better job this time I replaced all the wiring that runs to my subs, amp. and fuse box with with PG. For my highs I don't have a amp. hooked to those anymore, waiting to replace them with components first. But the wiring to those is PG, its actually already installed, just waiting until I recieve the component sets and amp. to put them in.

it could be a bad ground connection, once that is check, does the amp have a level knob. it should, please dont but it to the max level, with cheap amps this could also trigger the whinning. start the car and adjust the level , hope this works good luck.
