'90 Cherokee -- Low Rider

Hey

Replaced one ply in the leaf springs about a year ago. That picked up the back end a few inches but now its sagging again--lower than ever. Anything other than installing a lift kit that might give me some more height?

Are any of the leafs broken???

Check out a set of full springs rather than trying to stiffen up a weak set with one leaf or a set of overloads.

I remember someone saying that JCWhitney had springs for jeeps at a real good price. Don't know if they were for a cherokee or not but worth a check.

Easier than replacing one leaf too.

I have a '92 cherokee laredo... same problem. I went to many people and other jeepers and friends for a good fix, yet inexpensive. I finally decided on a set of adjustable air assist shocks which I bought at advance. they are available only by sets of two and run around $70. I also pull a trailer with mine and the shocks have made a huge improvement. I put them on myself about four months ago, and found it to be rather easy.

Air shocks are intended to provide a bit of extra adjustable lift when the existing springs are in good shape. But they wont last too long if your leaf springs are so worn and sagging. Your springs will only get worse.

Look in the Yellow pages for a spring shop. Lots of these shops do custom leaf spring work for heavy trucks, trailers etc. They can rebuild/re arch your spring pack to be like new for about $150-300.
At the same time, they can add a bit of stiffness or get exactly the ride height you want.

haven't had any complaints about the ride, actually, it is better and closer to stock. the springs don't get any worse than they already are because they are only supporting part of the weight and are not being forced lower. the best suggestion that I can give is to go to www.quadratec.com and order a current catalog, or look up the part numbers which I will give you to find online...

the standard duty is 51.95ea. while the heavy duty is 64.95ea. Either choice would be much better than re-shaping crappy springs. I am looking into the thought of the heavy duty, but I also do a lot of trailering... you may not need the same thing. Hope this info helps and good luck. Jay
