Progress:'32 Ford (Rat)

Well I am at a stoping point w/ the Saleen! When I get my paint, I will finish it. So today I was looking through the new issue of Ol' skool rodz and had a brainstorm!!! I will be using the Revell '32 Ford Highboy street rod kit for the body and frame. The Revell '32 Ford Amigo pack will donate the front axle, the rear end and the steelies in the pics. Everything else will come from where ever! Thats what a rat is all about!! No color yet, primer, rust, puke yellow, crap green, I have not decided!! Here are some pics!!!

Hi all, I followed Mike over here from the diecast forum. :biggrin: . Actually been admiring some of the fine builds here for some time. This 32 Rat project promted a reply. Another Hot Rod fan here, Can't wait to see this come together.

Or leave out the motor entirely and say you're waiting for your next paycheck. This is gonna be great - are you gonna have it sit that low? The white walls and the steelies are perfect!

What are you talking about Matt? I already have 3 kits tied up in this one so far!! That's what makes it a rat- all sorts of cars in one!! I still have to locate an engine. Thanks for the comments guys, I got a rat to build!!!!!!!!!!!

It's either gonna have flathead V8 or a Buick nailhead!! I done one in flat black already, maybe a rusted out silver or flat yellow/green!!

Just a question, the white walls tires, do they come from the Ford amigo pack? I know anybody else asked it but I haven't seen any answer. Maybe am I blind :confused:

I'm interested in white walls tires aswell, I've a project (far in my backhead) of a beetle, without fenders, top choped, split bus roof (shortened), ... I'm in a kind of a hot rod mood for the moment :evillol:

The tires are from the Revell '29 ford rat-rod kit!! I really like these tires. The rims are from the '32 Amigo kit by Revell!! I am going to do some rusting out tonight!!

Looking forward to seeing this one in person.

Made some progress today!! I got the rust primer on, the doors opened, and some rust-through spots! I am thinking a green color w/ no suicide doors! I will use some baking soda and rubber cement to let the rust show through. Here's what I got so far!!

Hey Dennis, how did you do the rust it looks great!

Mike, I took a round headed bit and the dremel, and ate at the plastic from the backsibe. Once the plastic was thin enough, I took my knife and cut away!! I will take some rubber cement and cover the hole, paint it, then pull the rubber cement off, and the rust color will show through!!

Well I got the body about where I want! I still have to put my rust washes on it, but I will do that more toward the end of the build! I started the hinges for the doors, will get those on soon, then install the motor!! Heres what i got-

Here is some more progress! I chose to use some spoke wheels w/ black tires up front to give it even a more ratty look. And yes they will be weathered also. Opened the '32 grill and will use some sort of mesh!! Is it ratty enough yet??

Those tires are pretty skinny, plus thats the 6th kit I stole from to build this rat!! I have a total of 6 kits missing pieces just for this car!!

Here are a few pics of some progress, I have been busy working lately to finish this thing up!! I used a 427 engine!!! Maybe a little overkill, but it's a chevy!! Chassis is done, the hinges are on hold, engine needs wiring and paint. The interior is still in the air!!

Cool looking.... I like the engine, the tunnel ram intake and single carb are perfect for this project.

I don't see a tunnel ram manifold.... im confused. The engine, perfect choice! The carb and velocity stack go great with the era of the car.

Thats a good question...I've been trying to get to a meeting since May. I was going to go to the September meeting...but noooo, the date had to be before labor day, and I forgot.

Hopefully I'll be at the next meeting with a lovely rolling chassis.

I love this guy,lol hes just like me, but older. O yea i think i broke my hand so nothing from me for a lil while loner , my merc is a pain in my ass tryin to straighteninth the car out ,so my paint job looks perfect.its been a year now and i break my hand right at the end of finishin it up.THIS IS BULLSHYT!!!!!!!!!! anyways great job so far i love it.

Search around the FAQ for one, and look at those links. This has been asked 8 million times, and answered 7 million times. If you think about it, anybody with a sense of engineering can figure it out.

Here is a little more progress! I got the wood floor down, the seat in, and thats it. The hinges, I read about them somewhere, but do not remember. Study mine, and I will take some pics if you want?
