01 auto transmission fluid check/refill

My 2001 Isuzu trooper has no dipstick by which I can check the transmission fluid and/or refill when changing. I found this out when attempting to replace the fluid. Unfortunately, I found this out after draining my old fluid. I checked the owners manual but it gave no indication how to check / refill. Haynes manual says there is a dipstick on drivers side, but its not there on mine. Anyone know how?
