roller tip rockers

I recently came across a set of Comp Cam 1.6 roller tip rockers. I was wondering if I would be able to install them on my 95 with a 4.3 without changing anything else.

Your engine is already a roller rocker motor.

Why replace what is already there?

The lifters are roller, the rockers are stamped steel.

typically u dont change rocker ratio without checking valve clearance, so Ill do it for ya.....1.6 will fit the stock blahzer motor.

however, roller tip are not worth the $$ - when running, the roller tip is simply dragged across the valve stem. no rolling occurs

now roller fulcrum...they might be sexy and free up a couple valvetrain hp

Well....the roller tips were free. I work at a place that throws stuff like that away. Waiting for an intake to come in in on a core to polish, they throw those away also.

Well I finally installed the roller tip rockers and I moved the IAT over to the hole where the crankcase breather tube goes into the air breather and plugged the original hole. Don't know if actual HP gained but it does have some more pick-up.

Ah, the sensor will read colder and dump in more fuel.

You will get more HP but lose a little mileage.

I think I improved on the milage, 200 mi using 1/4 tank so far, I put in a Moroso pro coil ($1)in this afternoon but I couldn't tell if any improvement on pickup because it just rained and I kept spinning the tires. Worth the gamble for a dollar. Quaddriver is right about the roller fulcrum just waiting for a motor to come in with some on it. Usually get them out the door for $20.00. By the way I work at a engine rebuilding plant that doesn't re-use certain performance parts i.e roller rockers, chrome valve covers, oil pans and timing covers ( none for 4.3 yet ) etc... they also discard intakes cylinder heads and for most motors many still good. I just threw away 400 ea. 96-98 4.3 heads last month and still have over 13,000 heads in my warehouse. Sorry for the rambling.

huh coil for $1?

When someone buys a rebuild they have to turn in their old engine. Some people don't take off parts that they could transfer over to their new engine i.e. chrome valve covers, roller rockers etc..., so some of us keep an eye out for such things, and $1 for a performance ignition coil didn't seem like a bad deal today. Some guys will buy a pair of cylinder heads for $25 to take home and rebuild themselves.

Jasper is about an hour away but I work in the dissassembly, cleaning and repair plant. I manage the cylinder head warehouse but also certified in cylinder head identification and repair ( bolt hole repair, milling and welding ).
