Hey guys. couple Q's here,
1)Which head light bulb do u guys suggest? i have talked to many sport compact enthusiasts and they all prefer Sylvania Silverstar series due to them being the whitest/brightest. (by the way im looking for the whitest bulb)
2) i have to replace a headlight here soon. i see alot of people saying how they prefere stock rather than the projector or projector/halo. is it cause they are crap? or just tacky. basically im looking for something good to show off some good bulbs. and if u do recommend proj. wheres a good place to get them? for a good price? are they ebay ones good?
3)A couple guys i have talked to have done a certain highbeam modification for thier low beams. its where u trim or modify a 9005 bold to fit the low beam socket, giving you very bright lowbeams. directions can be seen on www.fourthgenhatch.com i think? is this good? bad? opinions
4)And last. ive been looking for a great corner light 194 bulb and nothing has come up good yet. again looking for bright white. i think first i got some apc ones, but they still looked like that yellowish white. next was some eurolite, white LED bulbs but they turned out too blue. any suggestions???? thanks
peace

silver stars are best I'v found
Its basicly a matter of taste. If you get projectors make sure to seal them up with silicon because more than likely they will leak. Heard mixed oppinions on light output, dont own them personally.
definatly do the 9005 conversion
cant help you on white side markers.

arent the h4 the best to covert over to on a 4th gen before going hid?
TheSilentChamber
09-06-2004, 02:45 AM
not really unless you get a headlight housing designed for them. H4 has high and low beam in one bulb and our headlights are designed for it to be in two seperate bulbs

I might be getting some projectors for my future 5th gen cause they're one piece and look bitchin but the 4th gen just look to me a little to bling-bling goin down the road.
The 9005 conversion is worth it. I've seen the difference and it's a good leap for better lighting.
And I would like to know too what corner lights would give off a white light to match the headlights? Mine are way to yellowish and dull looking.

I'm not 100% but I believe mine are Sylvania blue corner bulbs in my clear corners... nice and bright white.

how easy was it to do the plug? cut and reconnect? im guessing you soldered and heatshrinked? rather then butt connect

heh you said butt... sorry Its early, I Just woke up.
Yeah I cut it as far back as I could from the junk one then solder it in and heatshunk it. The colors are differnt, but its easy to finger out.

the way i did mine was exeactly on the How-To on the link given. it was very easy, i had all the tools needed, dremel and stuff. didn't even take like 30 minutes.
Darb 2k
09-06-2004, 05:08 PM
yea i like SC's way better, that way i dont have to trim a bulb every time. and i also dont have a dremel. so i guess ill have to find something else to trim the headlight housing....

cigarette lighter (or torch if you have one) and paper clip work good. Unfold it and heat it up nice and good on one end and it cuts right though the plastic

damn!!!! now i can finally see whats ahead of me :D. i just went out for a drive to test and see, im glad i did the conversion earlier, but something concerns me, is this legal? i mean, wont we get pulled over for blinding oncoming traffic? when i went out earlier, nobody really flashed their headlights at me, so i guess its alright?

its fine, your not using illegal bulbs and you dont have your high beams on so its all good. If you turn your highs on it will blind them because of the way it is adjusted.

Yea, just to back up what everyone is saying, I did the 9005 conversion too and im cery satisfied with it. Ive gotten flashed a couple times but i think i just have mine aimed a little too high. I used the Hoppy Headlight aimers last year and they fucked up my aim, so i gotta adjust that. But I also use SS bulbs and those have made me happy too. So unless you can afford an HID conversion, I say go with the 9005 conversion and the silverstars....

Most Def. You can do it buy turning the little screw up above the headlight assembly. But first you'll have to find a good brick wall to shown the beam on. I used tape on the wall for my points and it helped. I think it needs to be a certain height but i can't recall what it was.
