Freeway races in the Evo

Well looks like I lost another race. But what can you do.
~Here's a win~
Evo versus 80 ish Acura Integra
I'm driving on the 10 freeway. I'm in the right lane driving around slower moving traffic. Some knuckle head in an Acura Integra GS is tailgating my car. I decided that he was testing my car, so I mashed the gas and left him by a good 10-12 car lengths. Apparently this guy is flat out stupid (Seriously this guy gives a whole new meaning to ricer fly-by). He goes passed me swerving in between traffic (When I smoked him there was a large opening. I don't like to race in between cars at high speed). Anyways, he flashes his hazards on like a bonehead, indicating a kill. This annoys me. I follow him, and can hear his engine redlining, but not really going anywhere. I mash the gas to gain up with him and almost hit the back of his car, because he was going soo slow. He then cuts off someone and sprints ahead, putting his hazard lights on again. I decided to just let him go, as he was just endangering people. The dodo bird is probably telling his friends how he destroyed an Evo. :uhoh:

My buddies friend has a full bolt on 90 300 ZX TT. I already knew i'd lose, but i'm not one to care that much. Basically we were on the 10 and the 210 freeway. He mat it and I would too, He'd essentially put a couple car lengths on me. My favorite one is where I thought i'd catch him off guard. I matted it, and was right by his door passing him. He stomped the gas, and I was like WTF!!! His car literally jerked forward at 80 mph and proceeded to leave me. Talk about raw power. I think he has a good 30-40 whp over me, atleast (He is definitely faster then even Danno's SS from a roll). I still have to get the cam gears installed. Hopefully I can have that done sometime soon. I figured i'd share my stories with you guys.

Well, the Z is losing less power since it's RWD, its gearing is better for highway racing, and with full bolt-ons, it should have around 350 horsepower...go Fairlady Z :)

i really gotta find a Z that is actually running good to tell. cuase the only Z that i sat in has a JWT ecu 550cc injectors, jets to raise the boost up to 15psi, and a intake. but since the car ran like shit. it felt slower then even my car.

my friend has a nice 300ztt, with a j-spec motor, and all the boltons, making 450whp.. that car haulls ass.. i got to drive it (even tho i couldnt drive it like how it was suppose to.) but he took me for a ride in it.. that car is no joke.. the g force is crazy, we got up to 100mph in a few seconds.. it was freaking amazing.. it doesnt struggle and doesnt hesitates.. the power is always there.. and at 100mph it wants to keep going.. i say that car he has is a easy 12sec z.. Z's when tunned properly are no joke..

The guy I raced had quite a bit of work done on his car. He estimates that it has over 350 whp. Racing him from a roll I knew i'd lose, but i'm not a sissy that runs from a challenge.

Thanks, I appreciate that. I will avoid racing jet cars though. I don't like running cars that melt my paint off.

Ever come across a car running on a turbine from like an old helicopter? That would be awsome to have a medium sized car like the 300zx or 3000GT with one of those in it.... better to go with the 3000GT because of the AWD lol, talk about 4 wheel burnout!

turbine engines have a very slow response time. chrysler actually made a few prototype jet turbine powered cars. the main weakness was aceleration. however they had a good top speed. and it ran on every kind of combustable fluid. even scotch!!

Yea I know but they're just so sick to hear. I saw one in a truck on the History channel that spit flames from dual 6" exhaust poping outta the bed right behind the cab.

Dump 3700 in your evo and you'll kill the z like nothing. Upgrade intercooler, hks 272 cams, upgraded down pipe and exaust, upgrade fuel pump, rc 750cc injectors,BOV, safc (tuned) and of course upgraded clutch .That set up alone will get you into the high 11s. My boy is runnin 11.7 with just that set up. I say pretty nice for that much amount of money put in. The only thing is that hes runnin on race gas...

but u have to think if the 300zx had a 3700 in it! then the evo would get spanked on the highway due to the evo's drivetrain loss. The 300zx tt is a highway beast...the evo is a short sprinter!

Well I talked to my friend that was in the car riding shotgun while I was getting blown away. He owns a 373 whp Camaro off the juice (And Quite a bit more on the 175 shot :p ). He said that he didn't think his car, w/o the nitrous, could run that car from a roll. I think his turbos might be ported, but i'm not sure, other then knowing that he has full bolt ons. Anyways, I now own a stage one Vishnu Evo. It pulls like mad. I just hope it runs well at the track, especially if Matty goes.

The stage one is the following parts (Essentially it allows for more aggressive tuning for the piggyback system): Xede piggyback, hiper catback exhaust, Helix downpipe, and Vishnu cam gears (I also have a K&N air filter and a 104 octane map setup :p ). I'm really cheap, and didn't buy a high flow catalytic converter. The car still runs really fast. I'm running Danno SS on Saturday of next week if things go well :D I'm hoping to have some C16 race gas in it. I'm guessing that i'll trap around 108. That is just speculation though. I still wouldn't touch that 300 ZX on race gas though.

Yuh... deffinately! Don't underestimate the Zed on the straights/highways, boys! It would be a totally different story if it was on the twisties however... that's what an EVO was built for! :smile:
