I am looking at getting the Xterra. I would really like to get the SE-S/C in standard...anyone know why Nissan chose not to have this option????

OffroadX will probably know the answer to this, but I think SE's weren't offered with manual transmissions by the time the SC came around. Either that or they decided to do it because of the increased HP gain and don't trust owners to handle driving a standard.

Manual trannys are pretty hard to find in the Xterra nowadays.

2002 was the only year that combo was available when the SC could be added to the XE trim. Since then they've made the SC only available on the SE trim which no longer offers the option of a manual transmission.
The Canadian market still offers a 5-speed SC though. If you want one bad enough, it's apparently not too difficult to have one brought over the border.
